  • Monrovia Falls Project – April 2010

If you have been following this blog for a while you will know that I visit and photograph Monrovia Falls on a monthly basis. Well, on April 5th I visited once again and it was raining. The rain and the unusual atmospherics gave me some images that were a little different, some of while I rather liked while some were not so good. I did used a pre-release version of Photoshop CS5 that allowed me to “repair” defects in the images.

The rain upstream had lots of soil and other particulates gave the brown color to the water and the foam gives more a sense of movement.

  • Monrovia Car Show

About a month ago there was a car show in Monrovia there were lots of cars along Myrtle Street.  It was fun experimenting and trying new things.  Here’s an old truck that is owned by Gary Ewing, this is one of the first images I have processed from that day.

  • My October Hike to Monrovia Falls

As I have discussed in the past on October 5th I hiked to Monrovia Falls as part of my year long project to photograph Monrovia Falls at least once per month.  This hike was a Monday morning and I saw only a couple of people on my hike.  In fact I spent about 30 minutes alone with the falls.  Spent a fair amount of time looking at the falls looking for new compositions and observing the birds in the area as well.  This was a great start to a good week.

  • Monrovia Train Station

I really like photographing old buildings.  I does not matter much if they are in nice condition or abandoned, I just love the details in these buildings.  One this particular day I noticed the clouds in the sky and I knew they would work well in a photo, since a technique I like to use will emphasize the detail in the clouds.  Had a lot of fun working with this old building, you know, maybe old abandoned buildings are more interesting . . .

I have heard rumor that if the Gold Line Extension goes through there will be a stop here and they have plans to add and modernize this station.  I hope they do not remove the character of this old station.
