  • Sturtevant Falls

As I have mentioned in past blog posts that I love to go see waterfalls.  The first time I did the hike I made a wrong turn and saw a few things that I would not have seen otherwise and I had a good time with the hike, just a little more tired than I had thought I would be.  This photo is from my first visit to the falls.

This falls is generally though of being the one in the area with the most water flow, I can readily tell that we must not have the up stream snow melt and rain that we have had in the past.  The flow here is significantly less than picture I have seen from prior years.

  • Monrovia Train Station

I really like photographing old buildings.  I does not matter much if they are in nice condition or abandoned, I just love the details in these buildings.  One this particular day I noticed the clouds in the sky and I knew they would work well in a photo, since a technique I like to use will emphasize the detail in the clouds.  Had a lot of fun working with this old building, you know, maybe old abandoned buildings are more interesting . . .

I have heard rumor that if the Gold Line Extension goes through there will be a stop here and they have plans to add and modernize this station.  I hope they do not remove the character of this old station.

  • Magical Hallway

Cynde and I went to Pasadena City Hall to take a few photos one Sunday afternoon.  As evening started the lights came on in this hallway and was amazed at the colors and the over all look.  The hallway reminded me of a scene from a heroic fantasy novel where the hero is looking for some artifact.  This hallway looks friendly but has a mysterious feel to it   The caution signs on the floor lend some foreshadowing if one walks down the hallway and walks through the door.

Pasadena City Hall is a great building to go photograph and I will be sahring a few more images of it at a later date.

  • Plants Amaze Me

I have been an observer of nature for some time now.

To me it is amazing where various plants and animals will live.

Plants will grow on seemingly anything, you will see plants growing out of cracks in the pavement, in sand dunes and just about anywhere.  Near Monrovia Falls there are a few rocks that have a few small cracks and there are plants growing from them.

I have been watching this small plant for many months now and some days it looks much better than others, but it appears to be growing.  I find this amazing.

  • Eaton Canyon Falls

To me there is something special about waterfalls.  I enjoy finding and spending time around them.  In southern California there are a fairly large number of them and I hope to gradually visit each and everyone of them.  In March of this year I hiked to several falls and Eaton Canyon was on of them.  The hike was not difficult but the hike required me to duck under and climb over fallen trees.  Several times during the hike I thought I was on the wrong trail.

Overall the hike was enjoyable and the falls are quite nice.  I really like the boulder on the top of the falls.  Hope you enjoyed the photo.
